São Paulo, Brazil, 27 October, 2011 - CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain companies, has achieved the position of top importer in the Logistics Efficiency Ranking in the category of mineral extraction by the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero), for its work at the Rio de Janeiro International Airport - Galeão /Antonio Carlos Jobim.
The monthly ranking, announced last week, is based on date from July and presents the average time for cargo clearance at the airport by sector, identifying the most efficient importers picking up the goods at the Cargo Logistics Terminal (TECA). In this period, CEVA's average time to clear goods for the mineral extraction sector was 25 hours and 32 minutes, compared to the average time for this sector of 75 hours and 40 minutes. CEVA competed with 30 other companies in this category.
According to CEVA, an efficient and dedicated team was key to achieving the top ranking. “We have a specialized structure in place to service the drilling companies in Rio de Janeiro,” says Rubio Magela Guimarães, Regional and Customs Processing Director for CEVA. “This enables us to regularly monitor processes and drive continuous improvements by applying a specialist quality control and management tool," concludes Guimarães.
In 2011, CEVA has already executed more than 42,000 customs clearing processes for customers in the Technology, Automotive and Consumer and Retail sectors.
