Diederick de Vroet to Head Global Ocean Freight at DB Schenker Logistics

Diederick de Vroet has been appointed to head global ocean freight activities at DB Schenker Logistics and will assume his new role on October 1.

(Berlin/Essen, 29 September 2011) As Head of Global Ocean Freight at Schenker AG with headquarters in Essen, de Vroet, who was born in the Netherlands in 1971, will be responsible for a segment that saw over 1.6 million containers (TEU) safely reach their destinations throughout the world last year. The ocean freight expert has previously held management positions in the industry in Asia, and Europe.

“I am delighted that Diederick de Vroet will be joining us,” said Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, Chairman of the Management Board of Schenker AG and responsible for Global Air/Ocean Freight. “I am confident that through his support we will further expand our leading position in the growing ocean freight market.”

DB Schenker is among the top logistics services providers and is third in ocean freight worldwide.

Jochen Thewes, who was previously in charge of ocean freight at DB Schenker Logistics, has transferred to Singapore, where he serves as Regional Director/Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the activities of the Asia Pacific region.

DB Schenker operates in 20 countries in Asia and employs 11,000 people at over 200 locations.
