DALLAS — July 11, 2011 — Greatwide Logistics Services, a nationwide, non-asset-based provider of transportation and third-party logistics services, today announced the appointment of John P. Tague as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Tague succeeds Leo Suggs, who is retiring from the CEO position but will continue to serve as Chairman of Greatwide.
John Tague, 49, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having formerly served as President of United Airlines where he had responsibility for all airline management functions. In his eight years with United Airlines, Mr. Tague also held other senior leadership positions including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Revenue Officer.
In accepting the role of CEO at Greatwide, Mr. Tague said, “It is a great honor to have been selected to succeed Leo Suggs upon his retirement from the CEO position. I am proud to be joining Greatwide, a world-class, industry-leading organization with a broad array of service capabilities and a highly professional workforce. I am excited to partner with Greatwide’s management team and its majority equity owner Centerbridge to strengthen and grow all facets of the business.”
Commenting on the appointment of Mr. Tague to the CEO position, Will Manuel, Senior Managing Director at Centerbridge Partners, remarked “John Tague is a proven leader who has the experience and skill set necessary to lead a complex, market-leading organization. Centerbridge and Greatwide look forward to a long and prosperous partnership with John.”
Suggs, 71, joined Greatwide as Executive Chairman in 2009 and assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer a year later. He successfully guided the company through the freight recession of 2009, launched several successful organic growth initiatives and continued acquisitions to expand customer offerings. Suggs experience spans over fifty years in the transportation and logistics business most recently serving as a consultant for Centerbridge before taking the helm of Greatwide.
In response to Mr. Suggs’ retirement, Mr. Manuel stated, “Leo Suggs has left a lasting legacy of success in senior leadership roles throughout the transportation and logistics industry. As CEO of Greatwide, Leo has continued his successful track record by solidifying Greatwide's leadership position as the largest for hire dedicated carrier in the country. We look forward to working with Leo in his continued role as Chairman of Greatwide and a trusted senior advisor to Centerbridge.”
In announcing his retirement as CEO, Mr. Suggs said, "It has been a tremendous pleasure to work with some of the industry’s most talented management over the last two years. I take a great deal of comfort in knowing that the organization will be in the highly capable hands of my successor, John Tague.
