In-country leadership drives improvement in U.S.–Mexico supply chain efficiencies
GREEN BAY, Wis. – (June 21, 2012) – Schneider National, the premier provider of truckload, intermodal and logistics services, is marking the 20th anniversary of in-country operations in Mexico in 2012.
From the start, the company’s domestic presence has forged strong relationships with government entities and quality Mexican carriers to deliver customers an easy and efficient process for moving freight across North America. Schneider National de México is headquartered in Mexico City and is supported by offices in Guadalajara, Queretaro and Monterrey.

“Our experience in Mexico is unparalleled – few other transportation providers have 20 years of cross-border expertise,” said Jim Filter, general manager for Schneider National de México. “We’ve successfully navigated the changes in the economic, regulatory and political climate while moving freight in this complex system. Through this experience, we have developed a streamlined solution to take out complexity and ensure customers’ freight keeps moving.”
Earlier this year, Schneider de México was named Logistics Supplier of the year in 2012 by Premio Nacional de Logistica, a consortium of government agencies, major universities and professional associations.
It all began with a call in 1992 from customer Procter & Gamble asking if Schneider would consider establishing a domestic presence in Mexico. Since then, Schneider has worked to perfect its expertise in cross-border operations.
In 2010 Schneider introduced EZ-Border to manage the cross-border truckload process for customers, eliminating the complexity and chance for error and delay that occur when multiple carriers are involved. EZ-Border offers one single point of contact and invoice for a process that can otherwise involve at least seven entities touching Mexico-bound freight.
Schneider continues to expand its offerings in Mexico, which also includes Intermodal service. Mexico Direct provides nonstop, borderless intermodal service from the U.S. and Canada into bonded terminals in Monterrey, San Luis Potosi and Mexico City, and back.
Today, Schneider’s award-winning service delivers more than 300 cross-border loads per day via its truckload and intermodal services and is one of the largest U.S.–Mexico cross-border multimodal providers.
“Schneider has the equipment and infrastructure necessary for delivering a reliable service,” said Pablo Diaz del Castillo, transportation manager for Mabe, the leading producer and distributor of home appliances in Mexico. Mabe serves an international market that includes the United States. “The convenience of their service and the efficiency of the transit times are essential for our export business.”
Over the last 20 years, the company has continued to consolidate the number of Mexican carriers it works with and enhance carrier communication to provide customers with more efficient operations. Today, Schneider works with a select group of professional Mexican carriers that are selected for their regional focus and market expertise. Each Mexican carrier complies with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration standards as U.S. carriers, is U.S. Department of Homeland Security Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism–certified and has the highest service standards in the industry.
“We look forward to continuing to grow our service offerings to meet the changing demands of customers in our next 20 years in Mexico,” remarked Filter.
