The annual list serves to help military-experienced job seekers identify the nation’s best companies for civilian careers.

The 2012 Most Valuable Employers for Military® was open to all U.S.-based companies. The finalists, which were announced in February, were selected on the basis of surveys in which employers outlined their recruiting, training and retention plans that best serve military service members and veterans. Because of Schneider’s long-standing commitment to veterans, Guard members and Reservists, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) accepted Schneider into its exclusive Apprenticeship Program. During their first year at Schneider, drivers with a military background are eligible to earn a monthly educational benefit check from the VA in addition to their paycheck — up to $1,069 each month depending on the number of years of service.
