BIRMINGHAM, Feb. 19, 2009 - Minneapolis native Linda Nelson, a 23-year veteran of UPS (NYSE:UPS), has been named the vice president of operations for the company's Alabama District.
In her new role, Nelson will be responsible for almost 4,000 employees, 33 facilities and 1,451 vehicles that comprise the district, which covers all of Alabama and the Florida panhandle.
Nelson most recently served as vice president of operations for the company's North Ohio District, based in Cleveland, where she managed the daily operations in northeast Ohio.
Nelson began her UPS career in 1986 as a part-time package handler. Since then, she has held various UPS operations assignments throughout the United States.
