• Industry veteran Gary Schultheis retires after 42 years
Miami, Fla. – March 26, 2014: DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL), announced the appointment of Jannie Davel as the new senior vice president of Air Freight for DHL Global Forwarding, Americas. Effective January 1, 2014, Davel is responsible for managing DHL’s international Air Freight services in 18 countries across North and South America, including customer development and operational performance. Based in Miami, he reports directly to Mathieu Floreani, CEO DHL Global Forwarding, Americas.
A DPDHL veteran of more than 19 years, Davel succeeds Gary Schultheis, who will retire from DPDHL in April 2014 after serving as Head of Air Freight, Americas, DHL Global Forwarding since 2009. Over the next few weeks Schultheis will work on the transitioning of responsibilities under the new leadership of Davel.

During his tenure with DPDHL, Davel has worked in Germany, the UK and South Africa. In addition to English, he speaks fluent Afrikaans and has held several different roles, not only in Air Freight but also in Marketing & Sales.
He has held a number of management positions with the company in global, regional and country roles. These include Vice President of Global RFQ Management at the global headquarters office in Germany, Head of Global Customer Service and Care Programs in the UK, and Head of Air Freight Product South Africa also in the UK office. He also served as Executive Sponsor for key customers in the Engineering & Manufacturing and the Technology sectors.
With a team of more than 1,000 people, the Senior Vice President, Air Freight, Americas position is responsible for the net sales, cost of sales, airline/ cartage management, customer development and operation service performance of DHL Global Forwarding’s Air Freight product.
