Kewill Takes Flight as Consortium Leader for e-freight@Singapore

E-mail

April 18th, 2012 – Kewill has been selected, by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), as one of the three consortia to develop Infocomm Technology (ICT) solutions to manage paperless airfreight processes in Singapore, as part of the e-freight@Singapore programme.

The e-freight programme aims to take the paper out of the air cargo process and replace it with electronic data and messages through the use of ICT.  In an Air Freight Process Productivity Study commissioned by CAAS, it was found that implementing e-freight@Singapore will potentially achieve significant cost savings of S$18.4 million and improve overall productivity by 1.7 million man-hours annually at the national level.

As part of the e-freight@Singapore programme, Kewill will be rolling out Kewill Xchange. Kewill Xchange is an electronic messaging hub which provides a bi-directional flow of data between shippers, logistics service providers, ground handling agents and carriers. This would speed up document processing by transmitting shipment documents electronically from one party to the next.

Kewill Xchange will reduce document processing costs while maintaining data integrity by reducing data entry to a single time at the point of entry. Furthermore, delays from missing documents would be minimized as every shipping document would be processed electronically. Lastly, it reduces the paper trail within the logistics industry while sending out shipment documents before the cargo physically arrives at the port and destination.

Mr Evan Puzey, Chief Operating Officer, Kewill Asia commented: “By reducing, reusing and recycling data, e-freight will reduce the administrative burden on shippers and logistics service providers in manual data entry. Kewill’s e-freight solution, Kewill Xchange will provide additional benefits to its users locally and globally, who can leverage on Kewill’s global reach to position themselves at the forefront of global trade process management.”
