Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited ("Tradelink", SEHK: 0536) and Global Logistics System HK ("GLSHK") today announced a joint venture project to build a community information platform that will enable all stakeholders in air cargo supply chain to exchange and process electronic information in a collaborative manner that would enhance efficiency, reduce paper handling, enhance sustainability and improve the overall efficiency of Hong Kong as the world’s number one air cargo hub.

Under the project, to be jointly launched by Tradelink and GLSHK, electronic information input at any point in the air cargo supply chain can be viewed, re-used, processed and re-distributed by other stakeholders through the interconnection and co-ordination between the platforms operated by the two companies.  Leveraging on the strength of Tradelink and GLSHK whose platforms have already been linked to the massive and dispersive shippers and forwarders community respectively, the two key communities in the supply chain can easily and readily be inter-connected for electronic information exchanges through a web-based interface or direct connection to their respective systems.
This collaboration follows the success of Tradelink and GLSHK in showcasing the IATA sponsored E-freight project with end-to-end paper-free air cargo process flow involving a home-based air carrier in Hong Kong and a German shipper & consignee late last year.
Mr Lionel Kwok, Chief Executive Officer of GLSHK said, “ This platform will take out a lot of phone calls, faxes, emails, paper work, and data re-entry in the air cargo supply chain in Hong Kong, hence improving the speed, efficiency and competitiveness of the whole industry.

“Big players as well as small & medium-sized enterprises will all benefit from this shared platform.  This will also be a state of the art system that befits Hong Kong’s status as the world’s number one air cargo hub and is also a milestone as Hong Kong continues to grow its logistics industry which is a pillar of the economy,” Mr Kwok said.

He cited as a case in point that freight forwarders can re-use the electronic shipment bookings information submitted by shippers to produce electronic Air Waybill for sending to their respective air carriers, terminal operators and government bodies.  At the same time, shippers, freight forwarders and other stakeholders can also retrieve real-time shipment information from the airlines.
Mr. Michael Wu, Chief Executive Officer of Tradelink said, “We have already linked up a strong customer base of more than 50,000+ shippers, representing almost the whole shipper community while GLSHK has built an impressive infra-structure widely used by forwarders for electronic Air Waybill not only in Hong Kong, but also rapidly expanding globally.  Tradelink is very pleased to work with GLSHK to combine our strengths to build this community platform to make Hong Kong more competitive.”
