Shippers’ Voice adds legal section to help shippers better protect themselves

E-mail

Sep 16, 2010 - “The law governing freight transport can be a confusing, dry and sometimes mind-numbing subject for us non-specialists,” says Andrew Traill, Shippers’ Voice Managing Partner. “But it is vitally important for everyone involved in shipping goods around the world – and can cost millions if companies do not comply.”

So www.shippersvoice.com has added a new section, Legal Eagle, to its already highly-regarded range of information, policy and insight relevant to importers, exporters, wholesalers, manufacturers and others who ship goods around the world.

Legal Eagle looks at a range of case law related to recent incidents and court cases and highlights the sort of small print and/or inconsistencies that can cause problems when there are disputes about liability when problems arise.

“Following legal case law can provide an important insight which might just help us learn from other people’s mistakes and it can also encourage the spread of best practice,” explains Dr Traill.

The Shippers’ Voice has teamed up with Forwarderlaw.com to provide such insight. Forwarderlaw is a network of lawyers who practice international transport law for clients in the freight industry, particularly freight forwarders and logistics companies.

Dr Traill added: “We are always keen to expand our service, and will be on the lookout for any other similar service provided which we believe visitors to our site will be interested in.”

Shippers’ Voice (www.shippersvoice.com ) is an independent information portal.

It is not a lobbying organisation but provides a medium through which information can be presented, in the form of opinions, policies and insights, specifically on issues important to shippers, and revealing what shippers' may be thinking and saying on the issues.

It makes as much material and information freely available as it can via www.shippersvoice.com, as well as running seminars and offering detailed, bespoke research, drawing on the resource of a developing but confidential database of shipper-contacts.

Shippers’ Voice is part of The Voice of the Shipper LLP, a joint venture between Dr Andrew Traill’s SV2 Ltd, the freight and logistics research consultancy MDS Transmodal, and MissionMKG, PR and marketing specialists in the freight and logistics industry.
