In the aftermath of the economic crisis, logistics industry veteran Mark Millar says independent freight forwarder networks are thriving due to their flexibility, personal service and responsiveness.
Macau, July 27th , 2010 - As many larger freight forwarders have struggled to cope from the impact of the economic downturn and the dramatic upturn during the last 12 months it has been the independent freight forwarders who have thrived moving quickly to meet shippers’ needs with innovative solutions.
“The independent freight forwarders provide value through their flexibility and personal service – they combine agility and responsiveness to create innovative solutions for moving cargo. Through membership of the freight networks, the independent forwarders are able to offer global services without the need for large overhead infrastructure – resulting in cost-effective international shipments for their customers” said Millar speaking ahead of The Freight Summit in Macau.
Millar will be moderating The Freight Summit when 600 delegates attend the event at The Venetian Macau, September 21st-26th, 2010.
Organiser Nils Walle is not surprised at the growing number of SME forwarders attending The Freight Summit.
“Freight forwarders are entrepreneurs by nature and the success of their business is based on their ability to create networks that enable shippers to provide a flexible response. The Freight Summit provides an open platform for the forwarders to meet and create business opportunities. They are also able to expand their geographical network and vertical sector capabilities, “said Walle, Director of RWSolutions Ltd, organiser of The Freight Summit.
TFS provides a neutral ‘open source’ platform which enables individual companies and freight forwarder networks to expand their networks and scope of services.
The Freight Summit provides a forum for logistics experts and technology providers to offer services, share their experiences and provide advice in order to support the independent freight forwarding community.
TFS supports networks to cut the development time of their basic infrastructure from 6-12 months to 1 to 2 months, by providing branding support, alliance web design and alliance management software allowing owners to roll out their networks faster and manage them online.
Mark Millar leverages 20 years of global industry experience to provide independent consulting, education and advisory services that create value for clients in their logistics and supply chain activities in China and the Asia Pacific region.
Acknowledged as an industry thought leader, Mark has presented at more than 100 international industry conferences and his articles are regularly published in six countries.
