On April 23rd & April 24th, 2013, Trinity Logistics held their first annual customer conference, Gear Up, at their corporate office in Seaford, Delaware. A select group of Trinity customers were invited to this inaugural two-day event to hear insights from industry experts, network with fellow shippers, and spend time getting to know the Trinity team that serves them daily. Sixteen different companies were in attendance.

The first evening of the conference, attendees were given the opportunity to network with Trinity team members with drinks & hors d'oeuvres. They were then served dinner as they listened to Jeff Banning, Trinity’s CEO and President, talk briefly about the history of the company. Ray Smith, Senior Vice President of Design Solutions, then discussed the future of Trinity and the wide range of logistics and supply chain services now being offered.

The second day kicked off with a presentation by John Larkin, a financial analyst with Stifel Nicolaus. John is the managing director of the Transportation & Logistics Research Group at Stifel Nicolaus, with 11 years of experience in that role. John was able to provide Trinity’s customers with valuable insight into the road ahead in the transportation industry, sharing an economic analysis of capacity and pricing in the marketplace for major transportation modes including truckload, LTL, and intermodal.

After John’s presentation, our attendees split into two small groups for our first customer roundtable. This discussion was completely focused on the shippers, giving them the opportunity to share their insights, roadblocks, and experiences in the world of logistics in their particular industries.

Next, Evan Armstrong spoke about trends in the 3PL world. Evan is the president of Armstrong & Associates, a leading supply chain and consulting firm. Evan also led the second customer roundtable discussion, this time leading the whole group in a conversation about their relationship with Trinity Logistics. The shippers shared why they do business with Trinity, the company’s strong suits, and where they’d like to see an expansion or improvement upon service.

When the event was over, the response from the shippers in attendance was overwhelmingly positive. “Everyone in the world of transportation should attend to get better insight into what’s going on in the industry,” said one shipper. “This was a great chance to learn about industry trends and meet other shippers to hear their logistics issues and challenges!”
