Industry leaders and key stakeholders in the fleet and telematics space will converge in Atlanta this coming November to discuss fleet solutions and applications for fleet operators who now desire anytime, anywhere connectivity.
In June Telematics Update took a survey of 300+ industry executives from across the fleet telematics value stream. They identified that a key factor for integration of fleet management solutions into fleets was heightened applications and connectivity.
Economic and political factors were also weighed in with rising fuel prices and increasing legislation, along with the lowering costs of hardware, software and services. However it lies with the industry to bring visibility to fleet managers and their operational efficiency in order to reduce bottom end costs if fleet solutions are to be adopted by the masses.
Dyan Finkhousen, Telematics Product Leader of GE Capital was able to comment on these results and added: “Fuel prices over time are volatile and they go up, and fleet operators need to manage them more effectively. They are looking for tools to manage that fuel expenditure… but I think, frankly the most important factor when considering a telematics deployment is the heightened applications and connectivity. Those are going to be the tools that drive the success of telematics deployment and will contribute to the evolution of this field”.
