Global Logistics System HK ("GLSHK") and Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited ("Tradelink", SEHK:0536) are proud to announce the successful launch of the world's first community e-platform which enables electronic information from shippers to be viewed, reused, processed and re-distributed by freight forwarders and air carriers in the air cargo supply chain. The launch signifies an important milestone in e-freight development not only for Hong Kong, but also at the international level.

Mr. Terry Lo, Chief Executive Officer of GLSHK said, "The community e-platform aims to improve overall efficiency in the air cargo supply chain by streamlining the information flow, and enabling real-time shipment updates to be sent directly to shippers. Small- to medium-sized freight forwarders will enjoy greater benefits as the e-platform helps beef up their IT capability to communicate efficiently and effectively with shippers that don’t have upfront system investment. This will certainly strengthen Hong Kong's competitiveness as the world's busiest airfreight hub."

"The launch would not be a success without the great support given by our freight forwarder customers, namely Kerry Freight (HK) Ltd, Jet-Speed Air Cargo Forwarders (HK) Ltd  and Korchina Logistics (HK) Ltd, who pioneered the use of the platform, offered us invaluable feedback to further enhance the user experience and to ensure that it best serves stakeholders' needs. Their participation in this pioneer project demonstrates their readiness to echo IATA's e-freight initiative." Terry added.

Mr. Michael Wu, Chief Executive Officer of Tradelink said, “We are extremely pleased to collaborate with GLSHK on this project.  It represents a major step towards realizing paperless trade.  The first group of users of this new platform comes from our existing customer base of more than 50,000+ shippers. With an expected saving of up to 60% of their effort and associated costs, our customers are extremely impressed and interested with this cloud-based, user-friendly solution.  With all relevant data prepared and stored in the system, the platform provides a one-stop solution for shippers and forwarders in shipment document processing and declaration submission with ease and accuracy; enhancing operational efficiency. ”

The community e-platform is a joint project by GLSHK and Tradelink to interconnect and coordinate their respective platforms which link the massive shipper and forwarder communities.  Prior to the development of this community e-platform, the two parties successfully piloted an end-to-end paper-free air cargo process flow in November 2011 involving a home-based air carrier in Hong Kong and a German shipper and consignee.
