New software-as-a-service offering ensures the best carrier rates with automated procurement

ATLANTA — July 27, 2009 — In today's volatile economy, the pressure to secure capacity, while reducing overall transportation cost, requires shippers to optimize their carrier relationships to obtain lower rates and react more quickly to changes in their network. To simplify this process, Manhattan Associates (NASDAQ: MANH) has released Express Bid, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that automates and standardizes the procurement process from price-shopping to final contract, in order to simplify the selection of the best carriers available for each lane in the transportation network—air, land or sea. Express Bid ensures that Manhattan customers receive the best rates on carriers, based on capacity need.

"Express Bid is the result of combining years of best practices in managing some of the most complex sourcing events for our Fortune 1000 client base," said Eddie Capel, executive vice president, Global Operations, Manhattan Associates. "As a SaaS offering, Express Bid can be live in as little as four weeks and delivering an immediate return-on-investment and shareholder value. Since its inception, we helped our customers save more than $700 million in transportation costs across more than $10 billion in contracts procured."

Express Bid, a solution within the Manhattan Associates Transportation Lifecycle Management suite, enables customers to announce bidding events, distribute bid information, receive and analyze bids, and award contracts — all online — for the entire network, individual lanes or supplemental contracts. In addition, Express Bid provides standardized processes, communication tools and reports to help customers make the best, most informed carrier sourcing decisions.
