The top 100 NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) in August of 2014 decreased in TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) from July by 0.3 percent and increased 13.6 percent from August of 2013. Total U.S. imports for August decreased for the month by 0.6 percent from July and increased 5.9 percent from August of last year.
Out of the top 100 NVOs in August, 51 percent increased in TEUs from July. The top NVO, in terms of U.S. imports for August, is Expeditors International of Washington. Expeditors processed over 37,000 TEUs and decreased imports from last month by 0.9 percent, but increased from last July by nearly 6 percent. Blue Anchor Line and Christal Lines were the second and third top NVO in August. Blue Anchor Line increased imports in August from July by 1.3 percent and Christal Lines decreased by 4.1 percent. Apex Shipping was ranked as the fourth top NVO in August increased in TEUs from July by 1.09 percent.
