The top 100 NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers) in February were down in TEU (twenty-foot container) imports from January by 21%, which isn’t a surprise since February is a shorter month. Although, compared to February of 2013 the top NVOCCs increased in import volume this month by 2%, which equated to over 354,000 TEUs processed.
Expeditors International of Washington was at the top of the list for NVOCCs again in February. Expeditors processed over 26,000 TEUs but decreased in TEU imports by 29% from January and 6% from February of 2013. Blue Anchor Line was not far behind and processed over 24,000 TEUs in February, which was still 4% below the volume in February of 2013. Christal Lines made a dramatic increase from February of last year by over 151%. The NVOCC shifted from handling a little over 8,000 TEUs in February of 2013 to over 20,000 in February of 2014.
