TEU imports of the top 100 Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOs) increased in January by 13.3% from December of 2011. Compared to January of 2011, imports are also up 11.8%. Total TEUs for all NVOs in January increased 13% from December and 10.4% from January of 2011. The rise in January figures are a pleasant increase compared to the 7.2% dip that was seen from November to December of 2011.

Of the top 100 NVOs, 87% showed an increase in TEU imports in January from December. Expeditors International topped the list again this month and saw an 18.9% increase in TEUS from December and a 4.3% rise from January of last year.  Another upward surge occurred with Phoenix International, ranked fourth this month, which increased TEU imports by 19.7% from December. Overall most of the top NVOs started the year on a high note as large TEU increases were a common trend.
