US imports for the top 100 NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) increased nearly 33 percent in January of 2016 vs. January of 2015. This totaled 502,338 TEUs in January compared to 378,443 TEUs in January of last year.
The top NVO in January was Expeditors International of Washington, which handled 36,165 imported TEUs and increased 19 percent form January of 2015.
The second largest NVO this month was Blue Anchor America Line. Its imported TEUs totaled 33,736 this January, a 10 percent increase from last year. Christal Lines was ranked third this month with TEUs totaling 28,645, a nearly 13 percent increase from last year.
January of 2015 had unusually low imports, so it’s not surprising to see most NVOs ramp up in 2016.
