The shipping activity for the top 100 Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOs), measured in TEUs, increased by 2.11% from June to July of this year, and decreased by 3.92% from July of last year. This increase in TEUs offsets the 6.42% decrease seen last June. Year-to-date, TEUs for all NVOs are up 3.74% from last year and up 45% from 2009 figures.
When comparing the top 15 NVOs from July 2010 to July 2011, 14 of the 15 made the cut on both occasions. Hecny Shipping made an impressive jump from the 20th to the 10th position, attributable to the impressive 34% increase in TEUs since July 2010. Worldwide Ocean Line had previously occupied the 15th spot for carriers in July 2010, however due to a 42% decrease in TEUs from May 2011 and a 37% decrease from June 2011, they now hold the 20th position.
