TEU imports of the top 100 Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOs) increased in March by 13.5% from February of 2012. Compared to March of 2011, imports are also up 17%. Total TEUs for all NVOs in March rose 12.9% from February, but are down significantly from January of 2012 by 14.7%. In the past three years, the annual trend of TEU imports shows a plunge in February numbers, then a steady rise throughout the year; this pattern has held true so far in the month of March.

Of the top 100 NVOs, 81% showed an increase in TEU imports in March from February. Number one and two on the list were Expeditors International and Blue Anchor Line which both increased in March from February by 19.2% and 21.4%, respectively. Danmar Lines was number three on the list with a hefty rise of 28.5% from February and a 19% increase from March of 2011. Another noteworthy increase was Phoenix International which rose 16.7% from February and 17% from March of 2011. Overall, NVOs seem to be on a rise in TEU imports with most outshining 2011 imports.
