The top 100 NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) in May increased in TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) from April by 5 percent and another 20 percent from May of 2013. Total U.S. imports for April were also up 0.2 percent from April and another 5 percent from May of 2013.
Expeditors International of Washington is once again the top NVO in terms of U.S. imports for May of 2014. Expeditors widened the gap between it and Blue Anchor Line with over 35,000 TEUs processed. This was a 1 percent increase from April and an 11 percent increase from May of last year. Blue Anchor Line was ranked the second largest NVO for the month of May, but decreased its TEU volume from April by 3 percent. Although, despite the drop from April, Blue Anchor Line actually increased TEUs from May of last year by 12 percent. Christal Lines and Apex Shipping Company were ranked third and fourth on the list for May and both increased from last April by 4 and 19 percent, respectively.
