San Francisco, CA August 4, 2009 - Capt. Fred Henning, General Manager for Baydelta Maritime, passed away on August 3, 2009 at the age of 41.

Capt. Henning was passionate about the maritime industry and cared deeply about the community he served. A 1995 Cal Maritime graduate, he joined Baydelta Maritime in 1996 and advanced from a mate operator-in-training to General Manager responsible for the daily operations of the company. He continuously gave back to the community, serving on the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Marine Exchange and on the board of the Cal Maritime Foundation.

He was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the United States Coast Guard in 2004 for sustained meritorious service in support of United States Maritime Security for his service as a member of the Northern California Port Security Committee. An avid golfer, he gave his time each year to the planning of Cal Maritime’s annual scholarship fundraiser golf tournament.

Fred leaves behind his wife Nicolle and their young children, Nathan and Greta; parents, Ken and Linda Henning; sister, Andrea and many friends both personal and professional. His funeral service will be held next week and a trust fund will be set up for his children. Date, time, and further details will be posted on www.baydeltamaritime.com.
