Stephen Fraser will take up the position as Head of Group IT as of 1 February 2010. Stephen Fraser, 47, has a strong professional background in IT and comes from a position as Chief Process Officer in Maersk Line in North America, with overall responsibility for IT, Process Excellence and Customer Service functions. He is also a member of the North American Executive Management Committee.
“Stephen Fraser has finished the task of integrating, simplifying and rationalising the IT infrastructure in our North American organisation, and the results speak for themselves. His task will be to work together with the business units in a continued effort to optimise the IT backbone of the company, and he brings with him the solid IT implementation experience required to do so,” says Senior Vice President and Head of Group Human Resources William S. Allen.
Stephen Fraser holds a B.Sc. from the University of Southern Mississippi and has been with Maersk for the past five years. Before that he has worked for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and for the shipping line CP Ships.
Stephen Fraser will be replacing Flemming Steen who has headed Group IT since February 2009.
“Flemming Steen has done a very good job in terms of rationalising and operationalising the role of Group IT in the group while at the same time reducing costs. He has also prepared a strategy for a more efficient and systematic operation of the IT infrastructure and has thereby completed the job he was asked to do. Flemming Steen wishes to return to a role that ties in more closely with his CFO background and will seek new opportunities outside the group. We have therefore agreed to end our co-operation, and I would like to thank Flemming Steen for the large effort and contributions he has made to the group,” says Senior Vice President and Head of Group Human Resources William S. Allen.
