MOL Receives Orders for Inland Transport and Yard Operation of Completed Cars for Export in India

TOKYO ― Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that the company has received orders for inland transport and yard operation of completed cars for export from a new Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. plant in India. The contract includes transporting the cars to the export port and yard operations at the port such as storage and preparation for loading.

The company established MOL Auto Logistics (India) Pvt. Ltd.(*) in November 2008 and began inland transport of completed cars in April 2009.

The new order resulted from MOL’s reputation for superior performance in completed car transport throughout Asia.

The new plant will start manufacturing in early 2010 and will begin exporting vehicles, mainly to Europe, in late 2010. It will also produce vehicles for India’s domestic market.

In bidding on overall vehicle logistics operations for the new plant, MOL won contracts for inland transport and yard operation of completed cars for export. These contracts should lead to ocean shipping in the future.

The company draws on its wide range of expertise in completed car transport operations in Asia to offer safe, reliable services.
