NYK Recognized for Its Parent-Friendly Policies

E-mail

NYK has been recognized by the Tokyo Labor Bureau (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) for its compliance with the second action plan of a law (Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children)* that encourages businesses to enact measures that provide more support to employees with young children. This recognition is given to companies that offer their employees various schemes for child-care support and satisfy certain standards.

NYK was recognized for the 100 percent participation by its mothers in its child-care leave program, the company’s establishment of a support center for balancing work and family life, the implementation of flextime during its maternity, and the company’s promotion of child-care leave for fathers, among other activities.

NYK understands that enriching employees’ daily lives is essential for good health and spirit, and continues to promote the support of a work-life balance through positive child-care measures.

*Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children
A law obliging business owners to make it possible for their employees to balance work and child-raising against the societal challenges, as evidenced by the declining birthrate. The law came into force in April 2005 and requires that business owners cooperate to improve conditions so that the next generation can be born and raised in a healthy environment.
