On April 1, NYK established a new company, NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT JAPAN CO., LTD. (NYKSM JP).

NYKSM JP was established by renaming TMM Co. Ltd., which was a ship-management company jointly owned by NYK and Taiheiyo Kaiun Co. Ltd. (TKK), which itself became a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK last year. NYK purchased TKK’s share in TMM prior to this arrangement.
 

Together with NYK’s core ship-management subsidiary, NYK Shipmanagement Pte. Ltd. (head office: Singapore), NYKSM JP will manage small- to medium-sized oil tankers and other vessels, supply seafarers, and provide marine technical support to the NYK Group.
 
The establishment of NYKSM JP will allow the NYK Group to further apply within the group the high standards of tanker operation that TKK has acquired over the years.

Business activities: Ship management, supply of seafarers and marine technical support for the NYK Group, and ownership management and ship-operation services
