Clothing, specifically 13,845 items of sportswear donated by ASICS and shipped free by NYK Group, recently arrived in Myanmar for distribution by the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR JAPAN) and Kokkyo naki Kodomotachi (KnK, Children without Borders) to victims of last year’s cyclone.

In May 2008, a devastating cyclone left over 140,000 people missing and dead in Myanmar and many more in great need of assistance. Shortly thereafter, the NYK Group provided free transportation for nine tons of rice and clothing donated by the people of Japan. The aid was then distributed to the victims by the Japan Asian Association and Asian Friendship Society.
This most recent shipment to Myanmar was coordinated by Japan Platform (JPF), an international humanitarian assistance organization, and is the second time for NYK Group - JPF Joint Aid Supplies Transportation Projects.
NYK has also been a part of aid shipments to victims of the 2004 Off-Sumatra Earthquake and subsequent Indian Ocean Tsunami Disaster, and the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan and so on. In total, up to 1,183 tons of aid has been shipped by NYK, as the group continues to be of service to those in great need around us.
