On October 20, Tsuruga, a new VLCC built at Imabari Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., was delivered to NYK. The ship will now be chartered to the Chevron Transport Corporation Ltd. as part of a long-term contract for the carriage of crude oil, the first such contract between NYK and Chevron.

A naming ceremony attended by NYK executive vice-chairman Yasushi Yamawaki was held at Imabari Shipbuilding on October 16, and at the ceremony, Thomas Olinger, the general manager of Chevron Shipping Company LLC, named the vessel and cut the tape.
