May 13, 2009 - OOCL Logistics (China) Ltd. is the first customs brokerage agent in China authorized to pilot paperless customs clearance, allowing customers to simplify procedures, speed up customs clearance and reduce costs. The system also benefits the environment by using less paper, minimizing the threat of deforestation.
Paperless customs clearance is a new operating mode of customs clearance. The Customs’ computer system will automatically complete audit and release procedures. The customer may pick up or consign the cargo directly against the feedback from the Customs’ computer system without submitting (or submitting afterwards) related documents on site.
OOCL Logistics (China) Ltd. set up its Customs House Brokerage Unit (CHB) on Nov 15, 2007, and was the first carrier-based foreign logistics company to start a customs brokerage service in China.
