Nine International Leaders Recognized as “Women Who Make a Difference”
DES PLAINES, IL – December 3, 2014 - DSC Logistics is pleased to announce that CEO Ann Drake was a recipient of the 2014 Women Who Make a Difference Award given by the International Women’s Forum (IWF). The award was presented to Drake and eight other exemplary women leaders from across the world at the IWF World Leadership Conference, which took place in Atlanta. The IWF Women Who Make a Difference Award is a global award that is given to a select number of women who are recognized as exemplary role models for women’s progress and development, demonstrate a track record of outstanding achievements, are highly respected in their professional fields and are publicly recognized for contributions to the community.

“I am honored to receive this award,” explained Drake. “By supporting the advancement of women leaders, we can transform businesses, infrastructures, and economies. I’m grateful that my contribution is making a difference, and I’m thankful for all that the IWF does to inspire and cultivate leadership.” In addition to serving as CEO of DSC Logistics, Drake is the founder of AWESOME, the initiative for Achieving Women’s Excellence in Supply Chain Operations, Management, and Education. She is a member of the boards of Chicago’s Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) and the Supply Chain Innovative Network of Chicago (SINC), a council launched by Mayor Emanuel’s World Business Chicago Economic Growth Plan. She is a former board member of A.M. Castle Company, a global distributor of specialty metals, and the Committee of 200, a businesswomen’s leadership organization. Drake is also the former Vice Chair of the Business Advisory Council for the Northwestern University Transportation Center. Recognized for her contributions to business, education, the community and the field of logistics and supply chain management, Ann was the first woman to receive the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Distinguished Service Award (2012). She is a recipient of the Alumni Merit Award (2012) from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University, and was named “Industry Leader of the Year” by the Illinois Institute of Technology (2009).
