TOC Asia, part of Singapore Maritime Week, opens its doors on 21 April 2015 to container supply chain stakeholders
London, 13.4.2015 – The 19th TOC Asia Conference and Exhibition, taking place 21-22 April 2015 at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore, is just one week away.
Comprising of two high level debating forums – the Container Supply Chain (CSC) Conference and the TECH TOC Conference – supported by a professional exhibition and common networking zone – TOC Asia 2015 will debate the most crucial issues facing Asia’s ports and logistics sectors.
The Container Supply Chain Conference will assess the impact of shifting trends in global sourcing and evolving socio-economic drivers on intercontinental and regional supply chains. The conference plenary session opens with presentations from Abdulla Bin Damithan, Commercial Director, DP World, UAE Region; Julian Smith, Global Transportation and Logistics Leader, PwC and Richard Martin, Managing Director, IMA Asia, who will map the changing economic profiles traversing the Asia region and examine how shippers, container carriers, ports and logistics service providers must adapt to these changing dynamics.
Discussion throughout Day 1 (21 April) will also include the era of Mega Ships, Mega Alliances & their Supply Chain Impact. With contributions from Casper Ellerbaek, VP Trade Management, Kuehne + Nagel, Stanley Smulders, SVP Asia - Europe & West Africa Trade Management, MOL Liner, Alan Murphy, COO & Partner, SeaIntel Maritime Analysis, David Panjwani, Global Logistics Manager, Asia/Africa, John Deere, and Sundara Sundara, VP Ocean Product, Asia Pacific, Agility, a key question to be raised is how shippers can manage their container logistics efficiently when mega ships and mega alliances dominate ocean supply chains.
On the afternoon of Day 1, this discussion will lead naturally to the impact of the above issues on Ports in the Supply Chain. Rohan Masakorala, CEO, Shippers Academy Columbo, Bjorn Vang Jensen, VP Global Logistics, Electrolux, Joyce Bliek, Director Containers & Breakbulk, Port of Rotterdam Authority, and Phillip Emmanuel, Regional Director, Asia-Pacific, TT Club, will debate the realities of mega ships and alliances, and how container ports can address growing pressures on port productivity. A highlight of CSC Day 2 (22 April) will be a series of Market Briefings, looking at ports in different countries across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. While many smaller ports might never have to cope with loading and discharging and 18,000 TEU vessel scale is growing across all trades and even regional ports and terminals will still have to prepare with greater volumes and faster turnround. Tech TOC
How ports might scale the productivity barrier will be the principal theme of the parallel Tech TOC conference. Speakers will engage operational executives in the practicalities of port and terminal performance, with in-depth debates on facility design, automation, operations, equipment and technology from berth to gate. Terminal planning and design experts will discuss the modern challenges facing box ports – including traffic, pollution and noise – and how breakthrough design concepts could completely transform container logistics.
Session highlights include discussion on the Terminals of Tomorrow, how automation, crane productivity & remote supervision shine a light on the path to highly efficient, highly productive container facilities.
A special debate on Green Port Progress will outline the sustainability strategies terminal owners can pursue to minimise the environmental impact of container handling operations and institute ‘good neighbour’ policies.
A further session focuses on The Resilient Terminal, anticipating and mitigating the menace of cyber-attack as well as preparedness to cope with natural and others. To view the full conference agenda, please visit: www.tocevents-asia.com TOC Asia Exhibition
Running alongside these two high-level conferences is the TOC Asia Exhibition, a unique platform for the port and terminal community to meet port equipment manufacturers, second tier suppliers and service providers. Conference delegates and exhibitors will be free to network with each while discussing the prime issues raised by the event programme and the solutions on offer.
About TOC Asia
TOC Asia – the pan-Asia conference for people who own, move and handle containerised cargoes – runs as part of Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), running from 19-24 April 2015. At TOC Asia 2015, economic experts and supply chain stakeholders will analyse the fundamental challenges and opportunities presented by the shifting drivers of regional and global trade.
TOC Asia comprises two concurrent debating forums – the Container Supply Chain (CSC) Conference and the TECH TOC Conference – supported by a common networking zone where industry peers can swap notes and debate the high level discussion points presented in the conference sessions.
The Container Supply Chain (CSC) element is an executive-level discussion forum focused on international trade, container shipping, port development and logistics, bringing together shippers, shipping lines, 3PLs, port authorities, terminal operators, government and other key supply chain members.
This is complemented by TECH TOC, designed to engage operational executives in the practicalities of port and terminal performance, with in-depth debates on facility design, automation, operations, equipment and technology from berth to gate.
