2014-05-14-fb-chain(May 14, 2014) At TOC Europe 2014 FB Chain will be showcasing a range of leaf chain, pulleys and service tools, designed to keep dockside forklifts, reach stackers and container handlers on the job for longer.

A busy port or terminal can lose thousands in revenue due to unscheduled downtime of its dockside loading equipment, not to mention the ensuing delays and damage to customer experience. To reduce this downtime, FB Chain has developed a range of easy maintenance solutions that help fleet managers and service teams achieve optimum performance from their materials handling equipment.

These solutions – including FB Chain’s SuperEndurance leaf chain, sealed-for-life pulleys and professional chain wear gauge – will be on show in late June at FB Chain’s booth (PCE14) at this year’s TOC Europe exhibition, held appropriately in the heart of London’s former docklands.

Designed for docks “Whether it’s the damp and corrosive environment found by the coast, the extreme loads or the sheer size of the handling equipment, mast component maintenance has long posed many challenges for ports, terminals and stevedores,” says Bradley Pyne, FB Chain’s leaf chain aftermarket specialist. “However, from our years of experience supplying leaf chain and associated products to ports and terminals around the world – including a very large American port authority – we’ve honed our product designs to successfully overcome them.”

2014-05-14-fb-chain-toc-euIn particular, FB Chain’s SuperEndurance leaf chain, with its O-ring seals, internal bushes and SuperShield anti-corrosion coating, has proved an excellent alternative to standard ISO4347 BL (LH) series mast chain in port operations – offering 25% greater strength, 20% greater wear-resistance and five years rust free.

FB Chain’s sealed-for-life pulleys have likewise been adapted to the demands of high-capacity forklift trucks, reach stackers and container handlers, frequently found at ports and freight terminals. The larger the piece of equipment, the more difficult it is for service technicians to access the pulley at the top of the mast for maintenance. Thanks to a new type of self-lubricating sintered bush, however, FB Chain’s sealed-for-life pulleys are practically maintenance-free.

In addition to these mast components, aimed at increasing service intervals, FB Chain’s port handling experts will also be demonstrating the company’s professional chain wear gauge – a tool that enables technicians to carry out daily maintenance checks and plan services accurately and efficiently. The FB professional chain wear gauge measures elongation of all leaf chains up to 3 in. pitch to within 0.25%  – and is considered by many to be an essential item in every technician’s toolkit.

“FB Chain’s innovative mast component designs and service tools have enabled customers worldwide to maximise their equipment uptime and reduce operating costs. This is the message we will be bringing to this year’s TOC Europe.” says Pyne.

FB Chain representatives will also be available at the show to discuss conveyor chain requirements for port handling applications.
